MEET YOUR DOULA
every family deserves postpartum care
becoming a postpartum doula
My journey to becoming a postpartum doula began with my first child. My own postpartum experience was disorienting and stressful. Breastfeeding was so much harder and more tiring than I expected. I was lucky to have friends who already had children and gave me some great advice, but most of them were far away and busy with their own lives. My mom was there, but she’d given birth 35 years before and recommendations had really changed, so she was hesitant to give me too much advice about what to do. I felt like my life had been turned on its head and I didn’t really know where to turn.
I muddled through those first few months, and when I started talking to other new moms it turned out many of us had the same experience. But it doesn’t have to be that way. This is where a postpartum doula can provide support, guidance, and care.
Today I live in West Seattle with my husband and two school aged kiddos. I worked for 20+ years in the corporate world before making the shift to a postpartum doula career. After giving birth to my children, I developed a passion for supporting new families that eventually became a calling. I volunteered with PEPS facilitating new parent groups and loved it so much that I went on to attend a postpartum doula training. It has felt like coming home to a new community of amazing people who shared my passion for helping new families.
I passionately believe that all families deserve support and care in the postpartum period. I would love to be there for you during this exciting time!
